Troutdale History

John Harlow, a sea captain, purchased the Troutdale land claim in 1872 and built a large estate. The ponds that Harlow created in the dales of the land were home to a large number of native trout, both cutthroat and rainbow. Harlow convinced railroad magnates that he should build a depot on his estate. Soon, there were more homes and a postal office, which they named Troutdale. There are still many great fishing opportunities in the area!
